Background

DPPA5, also known as embryonic stem cell-specific gene 1 (ESG1), is a K homology RNA-binding (KH) domain containing protein that is expressed only in early embryos, germ cells and embryonic stem cells. It may be useful as a marker of pluripotent stem cells. Human DPPA5 shares approximately 66% and 74% amino acid sequence homology with mouse and rat DPPA5, respectively.
