Alternate Names for ATF6 Antibody

  • Activating transcription factor 6 alpha
  • activating transcription factor 6
  • ATF6A
  • ATF6-alpha
  • cAMP-dependent transcription factor ATF-6 alpha
  • cyclic AMP-dependent transcription factor ATF-6 alpha

Disruptions of protein folding and maturation in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) result in the activation of the unfolded protein response (UPR), an integrated cellular signaling pathway that transmits information from the ER lumen to the cytoplasm and nucleus. Activating transcription factor 6 (ATF6) as well as the ER-transmembrane protein kinases IRE1p and PERK are the major transducers of the UPR. ATF6 is an ER transmembrane protein that is normally bound to the ER chaperone GRP78, but upon ER stress is released from GRP78 and proteolytically cleaved to yield a cytosolic fragment which then migrates to the nucleus, and together with the transcription factor XBP-1, activates transcription of UPR-responsive genes. ATF6 has two isoforms (ATF6alpha and ATF6beta); only ATF6alpha is recognized by this antibody.

FAQs for ATF6 Antibody (NBP1-77251). (Showing 1 - 2 of 2 FAQ).

  1. We are looking for an antibody specific to ATF6 alpha that will not cross-react with ATF6 beta. Would you please help confirm if any of the following are ATF6 alpha specific antibodies: NBP1-40256, NBP1-77251, NBP1-76675 & NBP1-41439?
    • The antibodies NBP1-77251 and NBP1-76675 are specific to ATF6 alpha and should not cross-react with ATF6 beta.
  2. May we ask if ATF6 is ATF6 alpha? We are looking for ATF6 alpha antibody for our customer, but found none from Novus. Only ATF6 antibodies. However, after checking, I found ATF6 and ATF6 alpha seem identical. Would you please help confirm if NBP1-40256, NBP1-77251, NBP1-76675 & NBP1-41439 are all ATF6 alpha antibodies?
    • The antibodies NBP1-77251, NBP1-76675 are specific to ATF6A and should not cross-react with ATF6B.
