Angiotensin I Antibody (BGN/KA/4H) - BSA Free Summary
Immunogen
Synthetic peptide corresponding to amino acids 40-49 of the angiotensinogen precursor (Swiss-Prot entry P01019) conjugated to HMW carrier protein.
Epitope
P-F-H-L-V-I-H-N-E-S(-C)
Specificity
NB100-62344 is specific for Angiotensin I and does not react with angiotensin II, III or angiotensinogen in ELISA. Enzyme (ACE) into a vasoactive form called Angiotensin II which is responsible for increasing blood pressure. Angiotensin I is important in the Renin-Angiotensin-Aldosterone System (RAAS). RAAS is responsible for the regulation of blood pressure and water retention in the body. Angiotensin I is produced from a reaction between the renal enzyme Renin and angiotensinogen. It is converted by Angiotensin Converting Enzyme (ACE) into a vasoactive form called Angiotensin II which is responsible for increasing blood pressure.

Background
The protein encoded by this gene, pre-angiotensinogen or angiotensinogen precursor, is expressed in the liver and is cleaved by the enzyme renin in response to lowered blood pressure. The resulting product, angiotensin I is then cleaved by angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) to generate the physiologically active enzyme angiotensin II. The protein is involved in maintaining blood pressure and in the pathogenesis of essential hypertension and preeclampsia.
