This Actin Antibody (mAbGEa) is useful for Western blot, Immunohistochemistry on paraffin-embedded sections, Immunocytochemistry/Immunofluorescence and ELISA. In WB, a band is seen at ~45 kDa representing Actin. In IHC-P and ICC/IF, cytoplasmic staining is observed. Prior to immunostaining paraffin tissues, antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6.0) is recommended.

Actins are highly conserved proteins that are involved in various types of cell motility, and maintenance of the cytoskeleton. In vertebrates, three main groups of actin isoforms, alpha, beta and gamma have been identified. The alpha actins are found in muscle tissues and are a major constituent of the contractile apparatus. The beta and gamma actins co-exist in most cell types as components of the cytoskeleton, and as mediators of internal cell motility.

Understanding Actin Alpha 2 Smooth Muscle Actins are extremely highly conserved structural proteins found in all eukaryotic cell cytoskeletons that govern cell structure, movement, and shape integrity. Six distinct actin isoforms, each encoded by a different gene and developmentally-regulated... Read full blog post.
Actin Dynamics and Endocytic Trafficking Actin is a ubiquitous and an essential component of the cytoskeleton, with critical roles in a wide range of cellular processes. It is abundant protein whose monomers polymerize into polarized actin filaments, within epithelial cells. Filamentous acti... Read full blog post.
The GAPDH Antibody in Western blot Assays The loading controls on our antibody database are widely used in gel electrophoresis and Western blotting studies. Products like the GAPDH antibody detect "housekeeping" proteins which are abundantly distributed in cells. This makes them useful for ch... Read full blog post.
Profiling the Profilin 1 Antibody Profilin-1, or Pfn-1, is a small actin-binding protein which plays an essential role controlling the growth of microfilaments. Profilin 1 and Profilin 2 have similar biochemical properties but are expressed in different tissues. The Profilin 1 antibod... Read full blog post.
The Beta-actin Antibody as a Loading Control One of six actin isoforms so far identified, beta actin is a highly conserved cytoskeletal protein involved in cell structure, motility, and cohesion. We at Novus Biologicals have many different beta-actin products in our catalog, used in areas such a... Read full blog post.
