Novus Biologicals Launches New Folliculin Antibody

Novus Biologicals announces a new antibody to Folliculin.  The rabbit polyclonal anti-FLCN antibody (NBP1-44995) has been positively validated for use in immunocytochemistry/immunofluorescence and Western blot.  By Western blot analysis on HeLa whole cell lysate, it recognizes bands at 67 kDa, 37 kDa and 26 kDa, representing isoforms 1, 2 and 3 of FLCN respectively.

Folliculin is located within the Smith-Magenis syndrome region on chomosome 17.  Mutations in FLCN are associated with Birt-Hogg-Dube syndrome, which is characterized by fibrofolliculomas, renal tumors, lung cysts, and pneumothorax.

Novus' new FLCN antibody was made to N-terminal partial recombinant human FLCN protein expressed in E. coli.  It reacts with human and mouse, and, based on immunogen sequence identity, it is expected to cross-react with canine (95%), rat (92%) and bovine (91%).
