• Application Notes: WB: Predicted molecular weight: 68 kDa. An antibody raised against a similar peptide has been shown to react with a broad 80kD band in rat striatum and not cerebellum. The 80kD band comigrates with rat DAT labeled with an affinity ligand 125I-DEEP. The 80kD DAT band can be competed with the immunizing peptide. The same 80kD band (125I-DEEP labeled) can also be immunoprecipitated using the antiserum. Rat DAT contains various carbohydrate moieties and neuramnidase and N-Glycanase treatment reduces it size to ~55kD.

Cross-reacts with Human, Mouse and Rat.Not yet tested in other species.

Background

The Dopamine Transporter (DAT) is responsible for the reaccumulation of dopamine after it has been released. DAT antibodies and antibodies for other markers of catecholamine biosynthesis are widely used as markers for dopaminergic and noradrenergic neurons in a variety of applications including depression, schizophrenia, Parkinson's disease and drug abuse (Kish et al., 2001; Zhu et al., 2000; Zhu et al., 1999). Levels of DAT protein expression are altered by chronic drug administration (Wilson et al., 1996).
