Background

This gene is a member of the semaphorin family and encodes a protein with an Ig-like C2-type (immunoglobulin-like) domain, a PSI domain and a Sema domain. This secreted protein can function as either a chemorepulsive agent, inhibiting axonal outgrowth, or as a chemoattractive agent, stimulating the growth of apical dendrites. In both cases, the protein is vital for normal neuronal pattern development. Increased expression of this protein is associated with schizophrenia and is seen in a variety of human tumor cell lines. Also, aberrant release of this protein is associated with the progression of Alzheimer's disease.

1. Do you know the a.a. sequence of the recombinant Sema3A immunogen where the antibody binds, or at least which portion of the protein (N- or C- terminal, center)? We are working with human vitreous samples, and there is no actual data on expected concentrations of Sema3A in the patients. It would be very relevant for us to know the detection limit of this antibody.
   • The immunogen used to generate H00010371-M01 was a partial recombinant protein corresponding to amino acids 672-770 of NP_006071. This is at the C-terminus of the SEMA3A protein. We do not have any epitope mapping data for this antibody. One of our images for H00010371-M01 is a recombinant protein sandwich ELISA analysis, where we state that 'Detection limit for recombinant GST tagged SEMA3A is 0.1 ng/ml as a capture antibody'.
