Background
Serine/Threonine Protein Kinase N2 (PKN2), also known as PRK2, is a cytoplasmic kinase that contains three HR1 repeats (aa 44‑295), one C2 domain (aa 330‑463), and one protein kinase domain (aa 657‑916). PKN2 is a downstream effector of RhoA and promotes the activation of several kinases involved in regulation of the actin cytoskeleton, cell cycle, and apoptosis. PKN2 cleavage during apoptosis generates a C‑terminal fragment that inhibits PDK1 and Akt. PKN2 is also important in the intracellular replication of hepatitis C virus and Yersinia pestis.
