PIP Antibody (23A3) Summary

Immunogen
Recombinant protein encoding the excreted domain of human GCDFP-15.
Localization
Cytoplasmic
Specificity
This antibody is specific to a 15 kD monomer protein called Gross Cystic Disease Fluid Protein 15 (GCDFP 15). Gross cystic disease of the breast is benign premenopausal disorder in which cysts are predominant. These cysts appear to be formed from excessive apocrine cystic secretions, one of which is GCDFP-15. This antibody can be used for staining of breast carcinoma, salivary duct carcinoma, and apocrine epithelia.

Applications/Dilutions

Dilutions
  • Immunohistochemistry 1:10-1:500
  • Immunohistochemistry-Paraffin 1:10-1:500
Application Notes
This antibody may be diluted to a titer of 1:10 to 1:20 in an ABC method. However, depending on the staining conditions employed, we suggest that final dilution should be determined by the user. High temperature antigen unmasking with 10mM citrate buffer, pH 6.0 is required prior to immunostaining. Suggested incubation period of 60 minutes at room temperature.

Reactivity Notes

Human.

Background

Gross cystic disease is a common premenopausal disorder in which gross cysts are the predominant pathologic lesion. It is characterized by production of a fluid secretion which accumulates in the breast cysts. Gross cystic disease fluid is a pathologic secretion from breast composed of several glycoproteins, including a unique 15 kDa monomer protein, GCDFP 15. The cells within the body that produce GCDFP 15 appear to be restricted primarily to those with apocrine function. Studies have found GCDFP 15 to be a highly specific and sensitive marker for breast cancer.

Limitations
