Ornithine Carbamoyltransferase/OTC was detected in immersion fixed paraffin-embedded sections of human liver using Mouse Anti-Human Ornithine Carbamoyltransferase/OTC Monoclonal Antibody (Catalog # MAB9918) at 5 µg/mL for 1 hour at room temperature followed by incubation with the Anti-Mouse IgG VisUCyte™ HRP Polymer Antibody (Catalog # VC001). Tissue was stained using DAB (brown) and counterstained with hematoxylin (blue). Specific staining was localized to cytoplasm in hepatocytes. Background

Human Ornithine transcarbamylase (OTC) is a 354 amino acids, 40 KDa enzyme that catalyzes the reaction between carbamoyl phosphate (CP) and ornithine (Orn) to form citrulline (Cit) and phosphate (Pi). OTC is a trimer. The monomer unit has a CP-binding domain and an amino acid-binding domain. The active sites are located at the interface between the protein monomers.
