Background

NgR3, a Nogo-66 receptor homolog alternately known as reticulon 4 receptor-like 1, Nogo receptor homolog 2 (NgRH2), or NgR3, is an approximately 60 kDa glycosylphosphatidylinositol-anchored glycoprotein expressed primarily in the brain. It contains eight leucine-rich repeats (LRR) flanked by conserved cysteines. Although LRR are typically involved in protein-protein interactions, NgR3 has not been shown to bind known Nogo-66 receptor ligands. Mature human NgR3 shares 88%, 88%, 48% and 44% amino acid identity with mature mouse NgR3, rat NgR3, human NgRH1 and human NgR, respectively.
