The protein encoded by HNT functions as a neural cell adhesion molecule. Current studies are being done on several diseases and disorders includingcrimean-congo hemorrhagic fever, olivopontocerebrellar atrophy, epithelial ovarian cancer, bipolar disorder, choroiditis, Alzheimer's disease, schizophrenia, and neuronitis.
