Background
The MBD6 gene encodes a 1,003 amino acid long, 101 kDA methyl-CpG-binding domain protein 6 that binds to heterochromatin. This gene does not interact with methylated or unmethylated DNA but will interact with genes DUSP1, DUSP12, and ELAVL1. The MBD6 gene has been linked to Rett syndrome.
