Background
Integrin alpha-11 is a protein that functions as a heterodimer of an alpha and beta subunit, may be involved in attaching muscle tissue to the extracellular matrix, is most highly expressed in the uterus and heart, and is encoded by a gene comprised of 1188 amino acids with a weight of approximately 133 kDa. Studies are being conducted on several diseases and disorders related to this protein including ADHD, lung cancer, adenocarcinoma, thyroiditis, and prostatitis. Integrin alpha-11 has also been shown to have interactions with ITGB1, COL1A1, COL1A2, ACTB, and ACTG1 in pathways such as the focal adhesion, CDK5, NR-kappaB, integrin-mediated cell adhesion, signal transduction, and ECM-receptor interaction pathways.
