|Details of Functionality
IL36 alpha Protein is fully biologically active when compared to standard. The ED50 as determined by inducing IL-6 secretion in murine NIH/3T3 cells is less than 25 ng/ml, corresponding to a specific activity of > 4.0 x 10^4 IU/mg.
| Protein/Peptide Type
Biologically Active Protein
>95% pure by SDS-PAGE
Less than 1 EU/ug of endotoxin as determined by LAL method.
Disclaimer note: The observed molecular weight of the protein may vary from the listed predicted molecular weight due to post translational modifications, post translation cleavages, relative charges, and other experimental factors.
Packaging, Storage & Formulations
Store at 4C after rehydration. For extended storage after rehydration, add an equal volume of glycerol and store at -20C. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
Lyophilized from a 0.2 um filtered concentrated solution in PBS, 1 mM DTT, 3 % trehalose.
>95% pure by SDS-PAGE
Reconstitute with sterilized distilled water or 0.1% BSA aqueous buffer to a final concentration of 0.1 - 1.0 mg/ml.
This lyophilized preparation is stable at 2-8 degrees C, but should be kept at -20 degrees C for long term storage, preferably desiccated. Upon reconstitution, the preparation is most stable at -20 to -80 degrees C, and can be stored for one week at 2-8 degrees C. For maximal stability, apportion the reconstituted preparation into working aliquots and store at -20 degrees C to -80 degrees C. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.

Interleukin-36 (IL-36) is a pro-inflammatory cytokine which plays an important role in the pathophysiology of several diseases. IL-36alpha, IL-36beta, and IL-36gamma (formerly IL-1F6, IL-1F8, and IL-1F9) are IL-1 family members that signal through the IL-1 receptor family members IL-1Rrp2 (IL-1RL2) and IL-1RAcP. IL-36alpha is mainly found in skin and lymphoid tissues, but also in fetal brain, trachea, stomach and intestine. It is expressed by monocytes, B and T cells. Notably, IL-36 alpha is the only novel IL-1 family member expressed on T-cells. Recombinant murine interleukin-36 alpha contains 153 amino acids residues which is a single nonglycosylated polypeptide. Specifically, mouse IL-36alpha shares 83 % a.a. sequence identity with rat IL-36alpha, 54 - 60 % with human, rabbit, equine and bovine IL-36alpha.
