Background

FAM3A, (Family with sequence similarity 3, member A) also known as “2-19” is a member of a short-chain four alpha -helical bundle cytokine family. It is a 22 kDa probable glycoprotein expressed in vascular endothelium and pancreatic duct epithelium. It is synthesized as a 230 amino acid (aa) precursor that contains a 33 aa signal sequence and a 197 aa mature region. Mature human FAM3A is approximately 93% aa identical to mature mouse and rat FAM3A.
