Background

DR6 (Death receptor 6), is a member of the TNF-receptor superfamily and like TNFR1, interacts with death domain containing adapter molecule TRADD. This receptor has been shown to activate NF-kappaB and MAPK8/JNK, and induce cell apoptosis. DR6 is widely expressed in human tissues and cell lines. Several novel death receptors including DR3, DR4, and DR5 were recently identified. The ligand for DR6 has not been identified.

1. I noticed that DR6 antibody from some companies detects 68kDa bands, and some detect 82kDa. What is difference?
   • The predicted molecular weight for DR6 is 71 kDa but it is also glycosylated ( UniProt O75509). Depending on sample and sample preparation, the post-translational modifications may or may not be present. This is why you see different size bands. You are seeing either the glycosylated or unglycosylated form.
