• Description: Purified using multi-step affinity chromatography with protein A.
• Immunogen: A synthetic peptide corresponding to an amino acid sequence of the carboxyl terminus of human cytokeratin 16 (Uniprot: P08779).
• Specificity: This antibody is used to detect cytokeratin 16 mutations within epithelial tissues. Reactivity was completely negative in normal breast tissue and non-invasive breast carcinoma. However, 10% of the invasive carcinomas tested were diffusely or focally positive with this antibody.

Background

Two cytokeratins, 6 and 16, are expressed when keratincytes are undergoing rapid turnover in various pathological states, wound healing, psoriasis and some carcinomas
