Cryptic was detected in immersion fixed D3 mouse embryonic stem cell line using Rat Anti-Mouse Cryptic Monoclonal Antibody (Catalog # MAB18401) at 10 µg/mL for 3 hours at room temperature. Cells were stained using the NorthernLights™ 557-conjugated Anti-Rat IgG Secondary Antibody (red; Catalog # NL013) and counterstained with DAPI (blue). Background

Cryptic, also known as CFC-1, is a member of the Epidermal Growth Factor-Cripto/FRL-1/Cryptic (EGF-CFC) family of signaling proteins. It is expressed during mesoderm differentation and is necessary for determining left-right asymmetry. Cryptic functions as a co-receptor that regulates signaling by some TGF-beta superfamily members.
