| Immunogen | Purified human C7 |
| Specificity | NB100-63270 recognizes complement component 7 (C7), a 110 kDa glycoprotein present in the blood serum. The factor I domain of C7 binds the C terminus of the C5 alpha-chain, acting as a membrane anchor. This enables the assembly of the complement membrane attack complex (MAC) and consequent complement lytic activity. C7 deficiency is associated with increased susceptibility to recurrent infections, in particular by Neisseria meningitides. Note that this antibody does not recognise membrane bound complement membrane attack complex. This antibody inhibits lysis of sensitised sheep erythrocytes. |
