Caspase-11 Antibody Summary

Description
This product is manufactured by Abcam and distributed by Novus Biologicals. (Abcam Catalog Number: ab18741)
Immunogen
Synthetic peptide made to the surrounding amino acid 257 of mouse or rat caspase-11. The sequence used as immunogen is identical among mouse and rat (NM_007609).
Specificity
The antibody detects multiple products of Caspase 11 (also known as caspase 4 in mouse/rat): procaspase-11 (45 kDa), a partially cleaved fragment (30 kDa) and fully cleaved fragment (20 kDa). A 58 kDa unknown identity band was also detected in 3T3 cells.

Background

This gene encodes a caspase that is involved in apoptosis, cell migration, and the inflammatory response. Although its official nomenclature is Casp4, caspase 4, apoptosis-related cysteine peptidase, this gene and its encoded protein have historically been called caspase 11.
