WB: Approx. 45 kDa band observed in human liver, mouse liver and rat liver lysates (calculated MW of 44.9 kDa band according to human NP_001704.1, 45.0 kDa band according to mouse NP_057877.1 and rat NP_110477.1). In transfected HEK293 transiently expressing BHMT a band of approx. 49 kDa is observed. This band is not observed in the non-transfected HEK293. IHC-P: Human kidney shows strong cytoplasm staining in PCT cells.
Predicted cross-reactivity based on sequence identity: Canine.

Alternate Names for BHMT Antibody
betaine homocysteine methyltransferase
betaine--homocysteine S-methyltransferase 1
This gene encodes a cytosolic enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of betaine and homocysteine to dimethylglycine and methionine, respectively. Defects in this gene could lead to hyperhomocyst(e)inemia, but such a defect has not yet been observed. [provided by RefSeq]
