Background

UDP-glucuronosyltransferases catalyze phase II biotransformation reactions in which lipophilic substrates areconjugated with glucuronic acid to increase water solubility and enhance excretion. They are of major importance inthe conjugation and subsequent elimination of potentially toxic xenobiotics and endogenous compounds
