Background

Ribosomal protein S27, also known as RPS27, is a 9kDa 84 amino acid protein and belongs to the S27E family of ribosomal proteins. Current research is being conducted on Ribosomal protein S27 in relation to breast cancer, prostatitis, hepatitis, malaria, melanoma, carcinoma and gastric cancer. The gene has been linked to the mitosis, metaphase, spindle assembly, spindle checkpoint and chromosome segregation pathways where it interacts with MARS, RTN4, MDM2, C2orf44 and HMP19.
