Alternate Names for Recombinant Human Osteocrin Protein
Background
Osteocrin (OSTN), also known as Musclin, contains two conserved sequence motifs homologous to the natriuretic peptide family. This protein appears to modulate osteoblastic differentiation and highly expressed in cells of osteoblast lineage and in skeletal muscle tissue. It could also function as an autocrine and paracrine factor linked to glucose metabolism in skeletal muscle. Recombinant human OSTN protein, fused to His-tag at N-terminus, was expressed in E.coli and purified by using conventional chromatography techniques.
