GSK-3 alpha/beta [p Ser9] Antibody - Azide Free Summary
| Description |
Novus Biologicals Rabbit GSK-3 alpha/beta [p Ser9] Antibody - Azide Free (NB300-741) is a polyclonal antibody validated for use in WB. All Novus Biologicals antibodies are covered by our 100% guarantee. |
| Immunogen |
Synthetic phospho-peptide corresponding to amino acid residues surrounding GSK-3 alpha/beta conjugated to KLH. Accession # P18266 |
| Modification |
p Ser9 |
| Specificity |
Specific for the ~46 kDa GSK3 beta protein phosphorylated at Ser9. Also weakly labels the ~51 kDa GSK3beta band due to the high degree of homology between the 2 subunits. Immunolabeling is blocked by the phosphopeptide used as antigen but not by the corresponding dephosphopeptide. |

Background
Glycogen synthase kinase 3 (GSK3) is a serine/threonine kinase that is involved in the regulation of many signaling pathways. To date, 2 isoforms have been identified: GSK3a and GSK3b. Specifically, GSK3b has been shown to play a key inhibitory role in both the insulin and Wnt signaling pathways (Papkoff and Aikawa 1998). It has been suggested that Ser9 phosphorylation underlies the inhibition of GSK3b by insulin (Sutherland et al., 1993).

FAQs for GSK-3 alpha/beta Antibody (NB300-741). (Showing 1 - 2 of 2 FAQ).
-
Has NB300-741 been validated on Drosophila melanogaster?
- This has not yet been validated on Drosophila samples. If you would be interested in testing this novel species, please take a look at our Innovators Reward Program.
-
Is the immunogen derived from GSK3 beta or GSK3 alpha? If it is derived from GSK3 beta, is the gene GSK3A? Or the gene name should be GSK3B?
- Our GSK-3 alpha/beta (pSer9) antibody with catalogue number NB300-741 was raised against a phosphopeptide corresponding to amino acid residues surrounding the phospho-Ser9 residue of human GSK3 beta. The antibody is specific for the ~46kDa GSK3 beta protein phosphorylated at Ser9, but it also weakly labels the ~51kDa GSK3 alpha protein due to the high degree of homology between the two isoforms.
