Glycophorin C Antibody (BRIC10) [DyLight 755] Summary
| Description |
This conjugate is made on demand and is not held in inventory. Each order represents a unique lot. All conjugates are generated using validated conjugation protocols and meet strict degree of labeling (F/P) specifications; additional information is available upon request. The antibody concentration is provided on the individual product label.
For specialized conjugation needs, like large quantities, specific concentrations, and defined F/P ratios, bulk and custom antibody conjugation services are available. |

NB100-66522 recognizes an epitope in the N-terminal region of CD236, also known as glycophorin C (GPC). CD236 is an integral membrane protein which carries the Gerbich blood group antigens. Expression of CD236 is not restricted to erythroid cells, but is broadly distributed in both erythroid and non-erythroid tissues. |

Background
Glycophorin C (GYPC) is an integral membrane glycoprotein. It is a minor species carried by human erythrocytes, butplays an important role in regulating the mechanical stability of red cells. A number of glycophorin C mutations havebeen described. The Gerbich and Yus phenotypes are due to deletion of exon 3 and 2, respectively. The Webb and Duchantigens, also known as glycophorin D, result from single point mutations of the glycophorin C gene. The glycophorin Cprotein has very little homology with glycophorins A and B.
