Background
Exosome Component 9 (EXOSC9) is a 49 kDa protein and one of the six core proteins of
the RNA exosome complex. It is known that EXOSC9 is necessary for the normal
differentiation of epidermal tissues. EXOSC9 is also necessary for P-body formation, stress resistance and
tumorigenicity in cancers. Depletion of
EXOSC9 attenuates stress resistance and P-body formation in cancer cells and
higher EXOSC9 activity correlates with poor prognosis in some types of cancers.
