Background
ADORA-A2 (Adenosine A2a Receptor) is a widely expressed seven
transmembrane G protein-coupled receptor. Activation by adenosine leads
to increased intracellular cAMP levels. ADORA-2A mediates many
biological functions, including cardiac rhythm and circulation, cerebral
and renal blood flow, immune function, pain regulation, and sleep.
ADORA-A2 has been identified as a target for therapeutic drugs for
inflammation, cancer, ischemic reperfusion injury, diabetic nephropathy,
infectious diseases and neuronal disorders.
