• Application Notes: WB: Preliminary experiments gave an approx. 40-45 kDa band in human brain (cerebellum) lysates after 0.2 ug/ml antibody staining. Please note that currently we cannot find an explanation in the literature for the band we observe given the calculated size of 106 kDa band according to NP_002561.1. The 40-45 kDa band was successfully blocked by incubation with the immunizing peptide. IHC-P: Human skeletal muscle shows striated staining in alternating fibres.

Background

The protein encoded by the PACE4 gene belongs to the subtilisin-like proprotein convertase family. The members of this family are proprotein convertases that process latent precursor proteins into their biologically active products. This encoded protein is a calcium-dependent serine endoprotease that can cleave precursor protein at their paired basic amino acid processing sites. Some of its substrates are - transforming growth factor beta related proteins, proalbumin, and von Willebrand factor. This gene is thought to play a role in tumor progression. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified. (provided by RefSeq)
