Background
The Bungia malayi asparagine-tRNA ligase (also known as asparaginyl-tRNA synthetase/AsnRs) catalyses the chemical reaction: ATP + L-asparagine + tRNAAsn to AMP + diphosphate + L-asparaginyl-tRNAAsn. AsnRS is an alpha2 dimer that belongs to class IIb, to be specific those forming carbon-oxygen bonds in aminoacyl-tRNA and related compounds. AsnRS is considered an excellent antifilarial target to cure for Lymphatic filariasis.
