Background

This gene encodes one of two high affinity forms of a receptor for melatonin, the primary hormone secreted by the pineal gland. This receptor is a G-protein coupled, 7-transmembrane receptor that is responsible for melatonin effects on mammalian circadian rhythm and reproductive alterations affected by day length. The receptor is an integral membrane protein that is readily detectable and localized to two specific regions of the brain. The hypothalamic suprachiasmatic nucleus appears to be involved in circadian rhythm while the hypophysial pars tuberalis may be responsible for the reproductive effects of melatonin.

Limitations

This product is for research use only and is not approved for use in humans or in clinical diagnosis. Primary Antibodies are guaranteed for 1 year from date of receipt.

FAQs for Melatonin R1A/MT1/MTNR1A Antibody (NBP1-71113). (Showing 1 - 2 of 2 FAQs).

  1. I saw that you have the antibodies for the both receptors of melatonin but not listed with FACS application. I need more information about what is better for my assay.
    • At this time, none of our melatonin receptor antibodies have been tested and validated in Flow. Should you choose to purchase and test one of them, you would qualify for the Innovator's Rewards program. You should take a look at each individual antibody, the clonality, conjugates, immunogen region and all relevant data in order to decide which product would be most suitable for your needs.
  2. I was wondering if you could give me some references of published article (specifically on rat tissue) that have used the product NBP1-7113 Melatonin receptor 1A antibody.
    • Unfortunately, we do not have any publications that utilize this antibody. I am sorry for any inconvenience. This product is guaranteed to detect the human, mouse, and rat proteins in ELISA and ICC. We have not yet tested this antibody for detection of the protein in tissue samples. Mouse and rat are listed based on homology and covered by the Novus Guarantee. I would also like to introduce you to our Innovators Reward Program. Try our primary antibodies in an untested species or application, without the financial risk of failure. Complete an online review with an image, detailing your positive or negative results of your study. In return, you receive a discount voucher for 100% of the purchase price of the reviewed product. Alternatively, submit reviews information and image by emailing innovators@novusbio.com.
