Application Notes
This LRRK2 antibody is useful for Immunocytochemistry/Immunofluorescence and IHC-paraffin embedded sections. In ICC/IF, mitochondrial staining is observed in U2OS cells. In IHC-P, the densest staining is seen in the perikarya of mouse brain tissue. Prior to immunostaining paraffin tissues, antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6.0) is recommended.

Background

LRRK2 (also known as PARK8) is a member of the leucine-rich repeat kinase family and encodes a protein with an ankryin repeat region, a leucine-rich repeat (LRR) domain, a kinase domain, a DFG-like motif, a RAS domain, a GTPase domain, a MLK-like domain, and a WD40 domain. LRRK2 is present largely in the cytoplasm but also associates with the mitochondrial outer membrane. Mutations in LRRK2 have been associated with Parkinson disease.
