• Application Notes: WB: Preliminary experiments gave bands at approx. 37 kDa band and 20 kDa band in lysates of cel line Jurkat after 2 ug/ml antibody staining. Please note that currently we cannot find an explanation in the literature for the bands we observe given the calculated size of 29.0 kDa band according to NP_006135.1. Both detected bands were successfully blocked by incubation with the immunizing peptide (and BLAST results with the immunizing peptide sequence did not identify any other proteins to explain the additional bands).

Background

The biological function of Granzyme A is unclear. It would appear that the molecule may have a role in the induction of apoptosis via its activity as a serine protease, but this would seem to be subsidiary to the role of Granzyme B. Granzyme A deficient mice are indistinguishable from normal animals in their response to infection.
