Background

Protein A is an Orphan-U GPCR with an unknown ligand. This gene was identified from genomic analysis of a gene-dense region at human chromosome 12p13. It appears to be expressed mainly in the brain. However, its function is not known. Three alternatively spliced variants have been described; the full length of the third variant is yet to be determined.
