WB: Preliminary experiments gave an approx. 28 kDa band in human spleen, tonsil and peripheral blood mononucleocyte lysates after 0.1 ug/ml antibody staining. Please note that currently we cannot find an explanation in the literature for the band we observe given the calculated size of 23.0 kDa band according to NP_663745.1. The 28 kDa band was successfully blocked by incubation with the immunizing peptide. IHC-P: Human tonsil shows staining of distinct parts of the nucleus in lymphoid cells.

Background
This gene is a member of the cytidine deaminase gene family. It is one of seven related genes or pseudogenes found in a cluster, thought to result from gene duplication, on chromosome 22. Members of the cluster encode proteins that are structurally and functionally related to the C to U RNA-editing cytidine deaminase APOBEC1. It is thought that the proteins may be RNA editing enzymes and have roles in growth or cell cycle control. This gene encodes a protein that lacks the zinc binding activity and may be an expressed pseudogene.
