Background

FUNCTION: Putative taste receptor. TAS1R2/TAS1R3 recognizes diverse natural and synthetic sweeteners. SUBUNIT: Forms heterodimers with TAS1R3. SUBCELLULAR LOCATION: Cell membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein. TISSUE SPECIFICITY: Expressed mainly in circumvallate and foliate taste papillae.
