Background

The GML gene codes a 158 amino acid long, 17 k DA glycosyl-phophatidylinositol-anchored molecule-like protein that plays a significant role in the apoptic pathway (cell cycle regulation) induced by p53/TP53 post-DNA damage. GML has been studied in relation to lung cancer, hepatitis, ainhum, toxic shock syndrome, hepatitis B, ritter's disease, and glioblastoma.
