• Application Notes: WB: Preliminary experiments gave an approx. 60 kDa band in human brain (cerebellum) and in human skeletal muscle lysates after 0.5 ug/ml antibody staining. Please note that currently we cannot find an explanation in the literature for the band we observe given the calculated size of 31.3 kDa band according to NP_853516.1. The 60 kDa band was successfully blocked by incubation with the immunizing peptide.

Background

Connexins, such as GJC3, are involved in the formation of gap junctions, intercellular conduits that directly connectthe cytoplasms of contacting cells. Each gap junction channel is formed by docking of 2 hemichannels, each of whichcontains 6 connexin subunits (Sohl et al., 2003 (PubMed 12881038)).(supplied by OMIM)
