Background

Early Growth Response 2 (EGR2) is an early growth response family member which binds to specific areas of DNA and helps control the activity of particular genes. Specifically, EGR2 activates several genes that are involved in the formation and maintenance of myelin, the fatty substance that covers and protects nerve cells.

Defects in EGR2 have been linked to a number of diseases including congenital hypomyelination neuropathy, Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease type 1D, and Dejerine-Sottas neuropathy. EGR 2 antibodies may be useful tools for nerurscience research.

• Comments: ***Bio-Techne Response: This review was submitted through the legacy Novus Innovators Program, reflecting a new species or application tested on a primary antibody.*** Fresh frozen sections of ovaries were fixed for 10 min in freshly made 4% paraformaldehyde. After blocking with 10% donkey serum, sections were incubated overnight with 1:100 dilution of EGR2 (NBP2-45695) antibody or mouse IgG (antibody control) and exposed 1h with donkey-anti mouse Alexa 594 plus DAPI. Mounted sections were imaged in a Leica confocal microscope.
