The exact function of Peripherin, or Neurofilament 4, is unknown however it has been suggested to play a role in axon formation and determining and maintaining the shape of nerve cells. WW domain-containing transcription regulator protein 1 also known as WWTR1 and TAZ, is a 44KDa protein that acts as a downstream regulatory target in the Hippo signaling pathway.
