Background

The prostacyclin receptor (IP), a Prostanoid Receptor, mediates the effects of prostacyclin, a potent mediator of vasodilation and inhibitor of platelet aggregation. IP expression has been documented in aorta, blood platelet, heart, kidney, liver, and lung. ESTs have been isolated from blood, embryo, kidney, lung, pancreas, placenta, spleen, and testis libraries.
