Background
MUCDHL, also known as Cadherin-related family member 5, consists of 3 isoforms, a 845 amino acid isoform 1 that is 88 kDa, a 651 amino acid isoform 2 that is 70 kDa and a 839 amino acid isoform 3 that is 88 kDa, it is a membrane protein highly expressed in kidney, liver, colon and small intestine, and acts as a calcium-dependent cell adhesion protein. Little is currently known about this protein disease involvement. The protein has been linked to the cell adhesion, homophilic cell adhesion and calcium-dependent cell-cell adhesion processes.
