• Application Notes: WB: Preliminary experiments gave an approx. 49 kDa band in human, mouse and rat brain lysates after 0.3 ug/ml antibody staining. Please note that currently we cannot find an explanation in the literature for the band we observe given the calculated size of 340 kDa band according to NP_001019831.2 and of 192 kDa band according to NP_003938.1. The 49 kDa band was successfully blocked by incubation with the immunizing peptide.

Background

Huntington's disease (HD), a neurodegenerative disorder characterized by loss of striatal neurons, is caused by an expansion of a polyglutamine tract in the HD protein huntingtin. This gene encodes a protein that interacts with the huntingtin-associated protein 1, which is a huntingtin binding protein that may function in vesicle trafficking. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been described.
