CaMKIIN2 [p Thr286] Antibody

Western Blot: CaMKIIN2 [p Thr286] Antibody [NBP1-50259] - Analysis of rat brain lysate, showing specific immunolabeling of the ~50k a- and the ~60k b-CaM Kinase II phosphorylated at Thr286 (Control). The phosphospecificity of this labeling is shown in the second lane (lambda-phosphatase: l-Ptase). The blot is identical to the control except that it was incubated in l-Ptase (1200 units for 30 min) before being exposed to the Anti-Thr286 CaM Kinase II. The immunolabeling is completely eliminated by treatment with l-Ptase.

Background

This gene encodes a protein that is highly similar to the rat CaM-KII inhibitory protein, an inhibitor of calcium/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase II (CAMKII). CAMKII regulates numerous physiological functions, including neuronal synaptic plasticity through the phosphorylation of alpha-amino-3-hydroxy-5-methyl-4-isoxazolepropionic acid-type glutamate (AMPA) receptors. Studies of the similar protein in rat suggest that this protein may function as a negative regulator of CaM-KII and may act to inhibit the phosphorylation of AMPA receptors.
