Background

TWF2, also known as twinfilin -2, is one of two mammalian isoforms of this actin binding protein which plays a role in signaling and cytoskeletal dynamic (1, 2). TWF2 is also called TLR9-D. TWF2 along with TWF1 has strong expression in heart, skeletal muscle and ear sensory hair cells (2). TLR9 isoforms undergo differential expression in Bcell lymphocyte development in particular and also in different immune cell types or in different immune tissues. TWF2 serves not only as an actin binding protein but also as an ATP binding protein (3). An antibody specific for TWF2 is useful for characterizing differential expression and more detailed functions in specific cells.
