Background
Thymopoietin (TP or TMPO) was originally identified as 5-kDa 49 amino acid protein isolated from bovine thymus. It is a ubiquitously expressed polypeptide hormone that regulates T lymphocyte differentiation. TPs are also nuclear proteins with putative roles in nuclear envelope organization and cell cycle regulation.
