Background

Regulator of G protein signaling (RGS) proteins are GTPase-activating proteins for heterotrimeric G protein alpha subunits. Therefore, RGS proteins are important negative regulators of G-protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) signaling. RGS2, a member of the RGS protein family, seems to have specific functions in the vasculature and the heart.
