Western blot shows lysates of mouse spleen tissue. PVDF membrane was probed with 1 µg/mL of Goat Anti-Mouse RARRES1 Antigen Affinity-purified Polyclonal Antibody (Catalog # AF4657) followed by HRP-conjugated Anti-Goat IgG Secondary Antibody (Catalog # HAF019). A specific band was detected for RARRES1 at approximately 33 kDa (as indicated). This experiment was conducted under reducing conditions and using Immunoblot Buffer Group 8.

Background

RARRES1 (retinoic acid receptor responder 1; also Tig1) is a member of the protease inhibitor I47 family of proteins. It is expressed in epithelium, including keratinocytes, plus prostate and breast epithelium. It is considered to be a tumor-suppressor molecule, presumably acting as an inhibitor of carboxypeptidase A. Mouse RARRES1 is 283 amino acids (aa) in length. Based on human, it is a type II transmembrane (TM) protein with a TM segment at, or near, aa 75‑95. Over
aa 42-283, mouse RARRES1 shares 85% and 74% aa identity with rat and human RARRES1, respectively.
