Background

FAD-dependent oxidoreductase domain-containing protein 1 (FOXRED1) is an enzyme localized to the mitochondria. Mutations in FOXRED1 are associated with mitochondrial complex I deficiency, which is associated with Lehigh syndrome and leads to increased production of superoxide radicals.
